Third conference of the Research Society „Babin nos“ from Temska near Pirot and Institute of Forestry from Belgrade was organized for the third time in Serbia as a three-day scientific meeting devoted to the topics of the use of plants, under the auspices of City of Pirot. This meeting represents the continuation of long-term cooperation and development of research in the field of medicinal and wild edible plants.
The city of Pirot, as the host of the consultation, represents an environment with extremely clean and unpolluted nature, where a large number of medicinal and wild plants grow. Their diversity and potential play a significant role in health preservation, disease prevention and proper functioning of the human organism, as well as in their suppression and treatment.
The official part of the meeting was held in the amphitheater of the elementary school "Saint Sava" in Pirot, where lectures, presentations and expert discussions were held. After that, the program continued in the nature of the wider surroundings of Pirot, on Stara planina, in the village area Dojkinci, at locations „Arbinje“ and waterfall „Tri kladenca“, where the participants had the opportunity to get to know the natural resources of this area.
The aim of this scientific meeting is to, based on the results of the research, contribute to the preservation, improvement and protection of the health of the social community and each individual. Also, the aim of the counseling is to develop awareness among the local population about the importance and wealth of medicinal and wild edible plant resources, as well as about the need to preserve rare and endangered plant species. It is expected that the organization of this consultation will contribute to the development of science, the strengthening of cooperation in the country, as well as the establishment and initiation international cooperation in this area.
The conference is being held for the third time on the territory of the City of Pirot (the first and second conferences were organized in 2021 and 2023), and this year for the first time it gets international character.
